Meet Dr. J. Benjamin Mancia, DMD
Dr. J. Benjamin Mancia was born in Miami, FL, and raised in El Salvador. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Florida International University in Miami, FL. He earned his DMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, where he was awarded the dean’s scholarship, the highest academic merit award given by the university. Following his training, Dr. Mancia worked as a general dentist for two years before deciding to pursue specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
After a year of surgical internship at Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX, he completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at New York Medical College. Dr. Mancia is a board-eligible member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
During residency, Dr. Mancia became interested in the latest advancements in digital dentistry, 3-D imaging and high-tech surgical instrumentation. Through his work with other departments, he was integral in changing outdated protocols into a fully digital workflow that improved surgical outcomes, patient comfort, and satisfaction. Dr. Mancia is trained in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He has a special interest in computer-guided dental implant surgery, full mouth rehabilitation, complex bone grafting procedures, wisdom teeth extraction and IV sedation.
Dr. Mancia met his wife Alison, a Greenville, SC native, in dental school. After living in many cities in the United States they decided to move to beautiful Asheville and establish their family here. Dr. Mancia is excited to work with the Asheville community and bring his commitment for high-quality, compassionate care. He is dedicated to providing his patients with personalized care that makes them feel comfortable and involved in their own health.
Dr. Mancia is committed to lifelong learning both in the office and at home. He enjoys attending continuing education courses and implementing the latest technological advancements in his practice. Dr. Mancia is constantly searching for new skills and often takes on new projects outside of the office. In his free time, he enjoys watching classic movies, reading, scuba diving, hiking, trying new restaurants and traveling with his wife.
